SPI-1005

Phase One

Phase One

Therapeutic Approach

Other

SPI-1005 is an oral form of the drug ebselen. Ebselen is a

molecule designed to mimic the function of a key enzyme

found in the inner ear, glutathione peroxidase (GPx). Regular

use of aminoglycoside antibiotics can cause damaging side

effects in the inner ear. By mimicking the function of GPx, SPI-

1005 may protect the inner ear from damage.

Status

A phase 1b study to test the safety and tolerability of SPI-1005 in people with CF is

planned.

Sponsor

This program is sponsored by Sound Pharmaceuticals and partially funded by Cystic

Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics (CFFT).
